Pros: amazing seafood, great prices

Cons: waitress spoke minimal English, very dim lighting

We found this restaurant based on some online reviews, and we cannot rave enough about the food at this restaurant. We had a dish centered around plantains, roasted chisken, and wild rice and another one based on rice and seafood. The seafood was phenomenal! The plaintains dish was also amazing, particularly after soaking everything in the chicken broth provided. We cannot wait to return to this restaurant and try out other dishes. Our only minor complaint was that our waitress spoke minimal English, so we had to brush up on some Spanish to fully understand her. Given that a vast majority of the clientele seemed to be Spanish-speaking, this may be some indication of the authenticity of the food.

The decor of the restaurant is definitely unique. Although the restaurant bills itself as a "Peruvian/Puerto Rican" restaurant, the decor seems to be a mish-mash of different cultures. There is definitely a Latin-flavor to the place, but amongst Latin American flags and maps, you will also see memorabilia-type records from Fats Domino...not the first musician you'd think of when you think of Caribbean/Latin music. The restaurant is also very dimly lit, which might be great for a romantic restaurant, but given the level of activity in the restaurant, this was not meant for couples-only dining.

Decor aside, the food was phenomenal, and this will definitely be a place worth repeated visits.
