Pros: Friendly atmosphere, great food, almost no-wait time
Cons: Service is inconsistent, tofu is not quite up to par with most other Chinese restaurants
The Canton House seems to be one of the more popular Chinese Dim-Sum restaurants in the Atlanta area. Each time we suggest Dim-Sum to some friends, Canton House seems to be the first places mentioned. Its large dining room means that you rarely have to wait to be seated, and the dishes are generally what you expect for a Dim-Sum restaurant. The clientele seems to be fairly diverse, which means that this restaurant has done a great job in reaching out to non-Chinese customers without diluting the authenticity of their food too much.
Our only complaint it that the service seems to be inconsistent. A few times we were at Canton House, we had to wait quite a while for the food carts to come our way. Other times, it seemed as we were being bombarded by food carts. The quality of the food is generally great, although you may want to stay away from their tofu-based dishes. One particular dish (tofu stuffed with shrimp) did not seem up to par with similar dishes we had in the past.
Overall, this is the perfect place to introduce new people to Dim-Sum.
